Open 7 Days a Week For Sedation Dentistry | Evening Appointments Available
If you feel anxious or stressed about dental appointments and end up avoiding your dentist, then you may be a candidate for dental sedation (sedation dentistry).
At Image Dental Care, our goal is to help every patient receive the dental care they need while reducing any emotional trauma. Regardless of the reason for your dental anxiety, we’re here to help you.
Sedation is used for common dental procedures such as teeth cleaning. With its help, anxious patients can feel calm and relaxed during dental treatments.
What Types of Sedation are Used for Routine Dental Practice?
- Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas). Nitrous oxide is preferred by most patients as it does not require the use of needles. Patients inhale the gas through a mask and are able to stay conscious throughout the dental procedure.
- Oral sedation. This sedation technique also eliminates the use of needles and may sometimes cause patients to no longer recall what transpired during their treatment. Patients may also fall asleep although they can easily be awakened with a shake. Oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate depending on patient needs.
- IV Sedation. This form of sedation is administered directly into the vein, hence making it work faster and gives a quicker recovery than the oral version. Patients receiving IV sedation may feel drowsy and fall asleep during the treatment. You may not even remember your visit at all. But no worries, you’ll also wake up easily with a shake.
Our dental team will help ensure you’re getting the right form of sedation for your needs. We’ll also monitor your vital signs until your dentist completes the procedure.
Sedation dentistry is safe. If you want to know more about it and other ways you can keep calm during treatments, please contact us.
